Houston
Few cities in the world offer Houston's range of business, entertainment and cultural opportunities. We're proud of our Texas heritage, and we don't hesitate to brag about being home to the world's largest rodeo. But Houston also has world-class visual and performing arts organizations, along with a dose of homegrown folk art that can't be found anywhere else in the world. Houston ranks third, only behind New York and San Francisco, in the number of seats in its downtown Theater District, and Houston is widely recognized as the nation's third most important city for contemporary visual art.
Houston is a paradise for sports fans, with the Houston Astros, Houston Texans, Houston Rockets and Houston Comets all playing in new, state-of-the-art stadiums. Minute Maid Park (home of the Astros) and the Toyota Center are located downtown, contributing to an urban renaissance that has transformed downtown Houston into a day-and-night destination.
Less than an hour from the Gulf of Mexico, Houston is close to sunny beaches, one of the nation's largest concentrations of pleasure boats, and tourist attractions such as Space Center Houston, the Kemah Boardwalk and Galveston Island.
West Houston
With population expected to exceed 1.83 million by 2035, West Houston is adding new residents and new jobs at a faster pace than the region as a whole, further consolidating its position as the quality growth leader in the Houston area. Two exciting developments will make living in West Houston more convenient than ever.
The Westpark Tollway provides a nonstop, uncongested route from the West Loop/Galleria area to the Grand Parkway. Only vehicles with an EZ Tag are allowed on the tollway where you can go from Katy to the Galleria without traffic lights. The reconstruction and expansion of the Katy Freeway (1-10 West) is also under way, transforming it into a model corridor combining traditional freeway lanes, High Occupancy Vehicle lanes and toll lanes. A fast-track construction plan will get the Katy Freeway done in just six years, compared to the 12 years it would normally take for a project of this scale.
Often, Cinco Ranch residents do not need to leave West Houston to work, shop or enjoy life to the fullest. Several thriving business activity centers, including the Energy Corridor, the Westchase District and the Memorial City District, employ tens of thousands of people. Some of the region's best shopping, including Memorial City Mall and Katy Mills Mall, is only minutes away, as is the nation's largest urban park system.
